About this site

This is my first website that I designed using Wordpress. I made a custom theme for Wordpress by building off of a previous theme: WordPress Themes based on a design by NodeThirtyThree.

This experience has truly opened my eyes to how web development ought to be. I knew Wordpress was great before, but now I know it’s great. Develop sites using Wordpress!

Development Tools

This site is being run on a LAMP server. I am currently running Apache 1.3 and PHP 5.

This site was developed on a Mac using the following software:

  • TextMate — best text editor; Markdown editing; editing PHP, XHTML, CSS files
  • OmniOutliner Pro — outlining software; project management (using kGTD)
  • Quicksilver — general productivity
  • Adobe Photoshop — graphics; photo retouching
  • Adobe Illustrator — graphics; color picking
  • Mozilla Firefox — web debugging (with Web Developer extension)
  • Safari — my main browser

I use Text Control so that I can write my webpages and blog entries in Markdown, which is a nice, simple markup language. Once you start using Markdown, you’ll use it for everything.
